Ngày 17-3, TS.BS Phạm Trịnh Quốc Khanh, phó khoa chấn thương chỉnh hình - bỏng Bệnh viện Cấp cứu Trưng Vương TP.HCM, cho biết bệnh viện vừa tiếp nhận bệnh nhân P.T.T., 32 tuổi, ở Cà Mau, nhập viện do bị biến dạng, viêm vón cục, đau nhức hai bên ngực.

How to Reduce Drainage After a Mastectomy

When you're facing a mastectomy, post-surgery drainage probably isn't high on your list of concerns. However, after the fact, drainage is important to consider. While no method is perfect at reducing drainage, you can talk to your doctor before and after surgery about techniques to reduce your drainage. How to Suppress the Gag Reflex

Whether it hits when you’re trying to brush your back molars or when the dentist is checking for cavities, the gag reflex can turn dental hygiene into an unpleasant situation. Cyberspace shares many different ideas on how to suppress this reflex, but there are several that stand out above the rest. Use immediate remedies such as numbing your palate or stimulating your taste buds to bring the gagging to a halt. Over time, you can also use your toothbrush to desensitize your gag reflex or practice refocusing techniques to help it subside quickly. Method 1 - Using Immediate Remedies 1 → Numb your soft palate. When an object touches the soft palate, it can trigger the gag reflex. Use an over-the-counter (OTC) throat-numbing spray like Chloraseptic to desensitize your soft palate. Alternatively, you could gently apply a topical OTC analgesic with benzocaine using a cotton swab. The effects should last for about an hour, and your palate will be less reactive. → Throat-numbing sp...

How to Irrigate Your Colostomy

Colostomy irrigation can be a way to avoid using a colostomy bag after a colorectal surgery, if you have a stoma. Irrigation will not always be enough to replace the use of a colostomy bag, but it may allow you to use only a cap, mini-pouch, or patch to protect the stoma. Irrigating involves instilling water through your stoma into your large intestine to flush out your colon. This can be done every 1-3 days, minimizing odor and leaking and giving you more control over your bowel movements.[1] This process can increase your independence and quality of life, allowing for a more active and care-free life with a stoma. To manage the irrigation process, you will first attach the irrigation sleeve, and then irrigate your colostomy with water. Part 1 - Learning the Basics of Irrigation 1 → Learn the irrigation process from your healthcare professional. If you are transitioning from a colostomy bag to using colostomy irrigation, learn the proper technique from your doctor, surgeon, or o...
